Our greyhounds are de-sexed, vaccinated, heart worm tested and treated plus microchipped when adopted. Our adoption fee is $300 and all greyhounds come with their own collar, lead, coat and muzzle. If you are keen to adopt from us, this is the adoption process we follow:
Step One: Send us your inquiry
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you our adoption inquiry form. The form helps us figure out which of our greyhounds would suit your family/lifestyle/work commitments the best. For example a younger greyhound would thrive in an active family with kids whereas a senior greyhound would prefer a quieter home. If you have a specific greyhound in mind already, please let us know when in your email or application form.
Step Two: Home check and meet & greet
One of our friendly volunteers will make a time and date with you to visit your home. The home check is mainly to check that your home is suitable for a greyhound (e.g. the fences are high enough) and to give you the opportunity to ask us any questions you may have. We often bring a greyhound and his/her foster carer to those home checks and you are welcome to go for a walk with the greyhound. If you and the greyhound bond and you are confident that this particular greyhound ticks your boxes, we are happy for him/her to move in on a trial basis of 3 weeks.
Step Three: Trial Period
During the trial period, your greyhound can settle into your home and you can really get to know each other. It is often hard to know from just a quick meeting if you are truly compatible so use the trial period to bond with your greyhound. We are here for you at all times with tips and tricks to make this transition as smooth as possible for both you and the dog.
Step Four: Adoption Agreement and Fee
If you would like to proceed with the adoption after a successful trial period and we are also confident that the greyhound has found a happy home, we will send you our adoption pack. It includes all paper work of the dog, e.g. de-sexing, microchip number and vaccination certificate. You need to sign our adoption agreement and our adoption fee of $300 is payable. It is your responsibility to register the dog with your council but we provide you with all the necessary documentation. Again, we are not far away if you need any help or assistance with your new furry family member and we’d love to stay in touch. We never really say goodbye to our greyhounds and most families are happy to send us photos and updates from time to time.
